Homage to Private Eye 50th Anniversary - Lookalike

Pam Wharfe & Pam Ayres

  1. Pam Ayres has always struck me as a nice enough, sympathetic woman, despite her attempts at poetry, and highly unlikely, say, to want to work with any tiresome, twattish Tory councillors of the type we are blessed with in abundance on Barnet Council,Mr Mustard.

  2. Of course another excellent running joke in Private Eye is OBN, the Order of the Brown Nose.

No chance of that going on between senior officers and councillors at Barnet Council, of course?

  3. Absolutely none whatsoever, of course, Mr Mustard, as we often observe at council meetings, do we not?

  4. I notice this poetic gem Pam: she is clearly very talented - did she write it about anyone we know? Very disloyal, if so. Gross misconduct, arguably:

"Upon these areas he brings his intellect to shine
In a great compelling voice that’s twice as loud as yours or mine.
I often wonder what it must be like to be so strong,
Infallible, articulate, self-confident …… and wrong.

When it comes to tolerance – he hasn’t got a lot
Joyriders should be guillotined and muggers should be shot.
The sound of his own voice becomes like music to his ears
And he hasn’t got an inkling that he’s boring us to tears."
