More funny business (permit bays)

Greenfield Gardens, NW2
It has only been a month since the previous case of mistaken signage.

Today Mr Mustard and the parking process manager were in complete agreement and quickly. Mr Mustard raised a query at 16:31 on Friday and the PCN was cancelled at 10:35, the manager having wisely chosen to accept representations out of time; otherwise the PCN could have stood as a debt when it was wrongly issued which would have been unjust.

A sign with no times on it operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Mr Mustard thought it unlikely that the hours for a business bay would be much more than 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

In fact, there was another parking bay for business permit holders on the other side of the street. Although the rule is that the applicable sign for your bay or line is always on your side of the road in this case we could be pretty certain that the times would be the same.

The other side of Greenfield Gardens, NW2
Mr Mustard's client had parked there on a Saturday. The traffic warden can only be faulted for not being very observant, but he/she was correct to issue based upon what they did see.

Mr Mustard is looking out for any other Business permit holder only bays with equally defective signage. If you see one, do let Mr Mustard know by sending a photograph to mrmustard@zoho.com

Yours frugally

Mr Mustard

  1. I suppose in the 21st century we must accept that some businesses do operate 24x7, after all, the railways mostly do, but probably not where that sign was placed. I really am convinced councils enjoy putting out traps like this and take a malicious delight at the revenue garnered from them. Totally wicked and immoral

  2. I'm going to defend parking management this time Fras. The current manager has been in post for about 6 months and is a permanent employee, at last having had 2 interim managers. I am sure he will correct this sign which was put up years ago and might have been correct prior to 2002. I have asked about refunds for those who have paid in error. That is the real test of honesty.

  3. I just got a penalty ticket for parking on the business bay at 8pm on a Monday. So shocked and upset as I thought it would be the same time as the opposite bays. Do you think I have a chance to appeal?
