North London allotment rent comparisons - no undercharging here either

Any Barnet allotments that don't take up the self management option, which should give them the freedom to set their own rents as they will also carry their own costs, are going to be hit by a massive hike in charges ( of 183% ) and although I haven't heard the plea that they are "in-line with other London Boroughs" I thought I would just check them for the same north London Boroughs + Hertsmere the same as I checked for CPZ charges.

This table is what I found the rent to be for 5 poles - an ancient measure which equates to a plot of about 10 by 15 yards.

Borough
Rent £
Notes
Hillingdon
     25.00

Harrow
     20.50

Enfield
     36.75

Waltham Forest
     35.75
some £25
Redbridge
     44.00

Havering
     21.00

Hertsmere
     17.50

Barnet - current
     30.00

Barnet - proposed
     85.00

So there we have it, Barnet plan to provide the most expensive allotments.  Barnet has 36% green space and yet it has a long waiting list for allotments - surely there are some spare green spaces that would be perfect for providing extra allotments.

Now what is that slogan that they love at Barnet Council ?

" Putting the Community First " - not the allotment community then, or CPZ residents, or old folks who need wardens, or culture lovers, or long serving employees, or add your own entry in the comments box....
