Subj: Focus Group Recruitment - Brent Council's new online parking permit system

Dear Panel Member

Brent Council is in the process of developing a new online parking permit system that is more user-friendly and better meets the needs of residents and customers. To help us with this, we would like to recruit participants to help test the new system and give their feedback on the look, feel and ease of use of the system before the product is finalised for release to the general public.

We wish to test as many possible scenarios as possible, so we are looking to explore how people with different levels of IT confidence and familiarity use the system and what happens when things don’t go as expected.

Each participant will be provided with the necessary user guide and a script of scenarios to follow. Relevant council officers will be present to provide support.

We require 20 residents to take part in the test so recruitment will be on a first come first served basis. Participants will be given a one-off payment of £25 to cover any out of pocket expenses.

Date: Thursday, 27 September 2012

Time: Session runs from 13:00 to 16:00, participants may be required for 1-2 hours between these times

Location: Room 1102, Brent Training Centre, 1 Olympic Way, Wembley Middlesex HA9 0NP

Please reply to this email if this is of interest.

Please note: participants must be aware of the emergency building evacuation requirement below:

· The training rooms are on the 11th or 12th floor. Participants should be able to make a safe, unaided evacuation in the event of an emergency from the 11th and 12th floors.

· There are complimentary tea and coffee making facilities available at the Training Centre

· There is no parking available

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards

Gosh, things are not done like that in Barnet which is why they go utterly and hopelessly wrong.

Will Barnet Council learn from this way of consulting, ask, listen and act accordingly or will they continue in the One Barnet mould of:

Act, listen to the screams of protest, make minor modifications to what they did, listen to more howls of protest, make more modifications, listen to the people at the ballot box because it was too little too late and the damage was done?

We will see.

Yours frugally
